Guru
Nanakdev had thousands of disciples, so why did he choose Lehna as his
successor? But whenever he tested his disciples, Lehna always stood out.
One cold winter's night, Guru Nanak tossed a bowl into a swamp and
asked the disciples who were with him to go and retrieve it. One of them
said, "Master, it's just a bowl. Tomorrow we'll buy another in the
market. It's too cold to jump in now and get it out."
Lehna was also there. As soon as he heard this he dived into the cold water, found the bowl and brought it to the Master.
