When human skeletons were found some time ago, archaeologists were unable to understand the missing link behind it. After all, what was the species from which human beings originated? A lot of research was done. Finally, a skeleton was found in Kenya which walked on two legs and not four. This was named homo sapiens. So our saints have rightly said that having transmigrated through various species, now you have got a human body. We can do meditation and devotion to God with this body; you can know your own Self. But we hardly strive to draw benefit from it and remain ever engrossed in activities like that of animals. So it is said ,“ Ahaar nidra bhay mathunam cha etat samana pashubhi naranam. ” If we remain ever engrossed in eating, fearing, producing offspring and sleeping, like any other animal, then we are not superior to them. The uniqueness of the human being is manifested when we acquire spiritual knowledge. Only this knowledge makes man special. Tusks of elephants are very costly, the tails of jovari cows are very costly, the musk found in the deer's naval is very costly, but still these creatures are not called ‘great'. Only the human form is called great, because people can be devoted to God, they can remember God's primordial Name and inspire others to remember it too.
