Nothing
in this world can give us the experience of total freedom or total joy.
The world itself, together with its joys and sorrows, is a fleeting
phenomenon. Gaining sovereignty over the whole world is actually a
misfortune if it is at the cost of one’s own soul. Christ said, “For
what does it profit a man to gain the whole world if he lose his own
soul?”
