The second type is motivated by material gain. He tries to bargain with God. He says, "If I make such-and-such a profit, I will paint the temple roof golden." Such a devotee is motivated by greed.
The third type is the seeker, while the fourth, the superior type, is the enlightened devotee. Lord Krishna himself said in the Gita, "There is no difference between the realized devotee and Myself."
