When we watch a movie, we know for sure that all those things in the film are not happening to us. People are shooting bullets, but we are not getting hurt. If there is a fire on the screen, we are not being burned. In the same way, we should understand that the world is like a film, and nothing is real. Everything is temporary, everything is changing, and there is only one thing that is behind the changes. There is a law that states that something that revolves, revolves around something stationary. The planets are revolving around something which is not revolving, the Sun. The wheel revolves around something that is not revolving, that is unchanging, and that is the axle. In the same way, everything is changing around the unchangeable, and that unchangeable entity is called Atman, spirit or soul. We should actually meditate on that unchangeable entity. That alone can give us tranquility and peace.
