Hidden Meaning

Nobody wants loss but it still occurs; nobody wants death, but it is inevitable and beyond man's choice. Same is the case with achieving fame or recognition. If we study this verse carefully, then the hidden meaning of Ramcharitmanas is understood. To whom did the loss occur? To the people of Ayodhya from where Lord Rama was exiled. And who gained? Those saints and sages who were meditating in the woods, those who were meditating in the caves and waiting for the darshan of the Lord. Also Bhilni, who used to sweep the path daily waiting for the Lord. When and how did the Lord oblige her? As a rule, devotees eat the `prasad' given by God but in case of Bhilni, Lord Rama ate fruit which she had already tasted.

Satsang

Only the true Master reveals the path leading to the ultimate goal, because only one who is himself free can make us free. Only he whose heart is illuminated by Divine Light can ignite the light within our hearts. During the Diwali festival, you light candles in your houses using a candle which you have already lit. Only a lit candle has the potential to light another candle and thus eradicate darkness. The darkness of our mind is due to anger, attachment, temptation and vanity and can be eradicated by the one who is himself enlightened with the Divine Light.

Satsang

We go to doctors. A doctor prescribes medicines and also prescribes some dietary restrictions in order to cure the disease. The doctor says, “Look, the problem lies in your stomach. Do not eat rich food, give up rice. Do not eat fried things and sweets.” If a person is diabetic but eats sweets, what will happen? His pathology tests will indicate a high sugar content. If the patient complains that the doctor did not treat him well then whose mistake is this? Definitely the doctor is not at fault in this case. Likewise when we are initiated, we are instructed to curb our worldly indulgence. The first instruction is to do meditation regularly every morning.

Always remain intoxicated in meditation on Holy Name and drink the ever-flowing nectar of this life giving herb. What is the mortar, what is the pestle, what is the herb to be ground? What is the filtering cloth and how is that ground herb to be strained? Use this body as a mortar, mind as a pestle and Holy Name as the herb to be ground. The eyes are the cloth and love the filtering process. Brahma the Creator drank this. Vishnu also drank this. Hanuman drank this in such a way that he was able to devastate the golden city of Lanka. dhanna drank this, sadna drank this. Meera drank this to her heart's content. Kabir the devotee drank this to such an extent that the light from that Holy Name emanated from every pore of his body.
