Lord Rama

This body is made of the five elements and is different from the soul. Soul is infinite and eternal. Soul is indestructible. The human body has been created simply for knowing this. Contemplate thoroughly on this and try to know the Soul.

The Importance of Service

Once there were two disciples. Both were pure of heart and devoted to their Master. They used to assist him in caring for the sick members of their ashram. They also meditated regularly in morning and evening.

One evening, a sick person needing urgent attention came to the Ashram. The Master sent a disciple to call other disciples who were doing evening prayer. Those disciples sent a message through the disciple who had come to call them: "Let us do remembrance of Holy Name and mediation for some more time. We will come as soon as the time for meditation is over." The Master read their message and sent the same disciple again to call them. This time both disciples came to the service of the Master, but they expressed their displeasure at being interrupted. The master said, " I called you to serve a very sick person needing urgent attention because service is more important than prayer at times depending on the urgency of the situation."

Both the disciples felt very ashamed and their displeasure due to misconception was wiped out.

So, we should also please the Master by serving according to his directions to make our life successful.

Not only listening but sumirat suthi nike(it is good and pleasing to remember), which means that there is pleasure not only in hearing about the Holy Name but also limitless pleasure in remembering it, and that Name is as dear to the meditator as Rama and Lakshman are to St. Tulsidasji.

Sow the seed of good deed in the field of human body, water it with the holy Name of God, make the heart a farmer, then the seed of God will sprout within your heart and thereafter you will get the harvest of salvation.

A servant of the Master should make his conduct such that it becomes a model for others. He should not be under the control of his mind and senses; rather he should have total control over them.
